Timeless pieces at Hyatt
Not a very few people have repeatedly uttered the phrase “If I could only turn back time” but none have so far made this possible except during an elegant dinner at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Giovanni’s Restaurant Friday.
Hyatt Regency Saipan and Guam Marketing Corporation joined hands to host an evening of glitz and glamour accentuated with a display of elegant time pieces from world leaders in watch making industry.
The event was attended by Saipan’s prestigious business people and prominent public officials who all share the same passion for watches, both the expensive signature and the Swiss-made plastic time pieces.
GMC General Manager Goeffroy de Drouas brought 20 pieces of elegant watches for the exhibition, including Omega, Panerai, Longines, Hamilton, Dunhill and Montblanc.
The watch exhibition cum dinner at the Giovanni’s Restaurant, which was graced by Philippine Consul Julia Heidemann, was a part of the continuing promotional activities between Hyatt Saipan and GMC.
GMC previously held a watch boutique in the commercial district of Garapan but was forced to close it down because of the significant downturn in visitor arrivals into the Northern Marianas, Mr. de Drouas said.
“We used to have a shop here selling watches but because of the Asian crisis, it was no longer economical for us to keep that shop in Garapan,” he told an interview, adding that the dinner is one way of checking the Saipan market. (AR F)
