Once again, Garapan Elementary School is holding its annual Reading Craze during the month of October. This is a time to encourage our students to read, read, READ and to celebrate our students reading abilities. We also use this month to promote the importance of reading for our students and their families, as well as focus on reading for enjoyment and comprehension. Last year, our students read over 20,000 books. This year, our goal is 250,000 pages-–that’s a quarter of a million pages!

Our continued efforts are also focused on the following school programs:

• Signatures (Language Arts / 160 minutes)

• Quality Care (After School Tutorial)

• Celebrity Readers

• School / Home Links Program

• Mother- Read / Father- Read

• Reading Resource Program

• Direct Instruction in Reading

• Daily Silent Reading

• Grade Level Reading Buddies

Our students have read 95,743 pages during the week of Oct. 2-6, 2000. The Reading Craze will culminate with a Reading Carnival on Halloween. Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite book character on this day and join in the carnival fun.
