Search for the cleanest campus
Tan Holdings Corporation has launched a CNMI-wide cleaning contest targeting public and private schools to highlight the company’s third annual campus clean-up campaign.
Spearheaded by the THC Executive Committee on Community Projects, 12 schools underwent surprise campus visits judged on five main categories.
Entries to the contest must exhibit the most tidy grounds and landscape, classrooms, administration office, cafeteria, and bathrooms.
THC’s execom during the last couple of weeks made unannounced visits to Saipan, Rota, and Tinian schools in search for the most well-kept campus.
Schools with the cleanest ground and landscape (category 1) and classrooms (category 2) shall each receive a $500 cash prize.
Campuses with the most orderly administration office (category 3), cafeteria (category 4), and bathrooms (category 5) will also gain $300 each.
A cash prize of $1,500 and plaque are in store for the overall contest winner.
Non-winning schools still come out victorious in the contest as they will receive $100 consolation prize.
Committee members are now in the process of tallying the results which are set to be announced within the next couple of weeks.
An awarding ceremony will be held to honor the winners and overall contest champion to be hosted by the campus who will bag the grand prize. THC President Willie Tan is expected to give out the awards at a special ceremony.
According to THC Community Projects Committee chair Frank Camacho, the program aims to promote cleanliness and environment awareness through a CNMI-wide school cleanup campaign.
“This program is designed to benefit schools. This way, students, teachers and administrators will step up efforts to clean their facilities knowing this is a competition and prizes are at stake. It is nice to see that schools are participating,” said execom member Jack Muna.
This year’s participating campuses are San Antonio, Koblerville, William S. Reyes San Jose, San Vicente, Garapan, Tanapag, Gregorio T. Camacho, Tinian, and Rota Elementary Schools as well as Mount Carmel School and Grace Christian Academy. (MM)
