In an effort to stimulate tourist traffic of family market from major markets specifically Japan and Korea, the Marianas Visitors authority has extended its Happy Children in Paradise campaign

According to Norman Berg, MVA marketing director, the campaign will be extended from April to September 2001 as a result of a recommendation by Japanese tour operators.

The campaign is targeting children below 12 years old. Each participating hotels will hand over gift bags containing Saipanda items to children.

With the conclusion of the summer campaign this year covering June to September, 10 lucky children, plus a companion, will have the chance to win return vacation packages. Some 1,500 Saipanda dolls will be given away as Christmas gifts to children.

Next year, MVA will offer a different set of items and giveaways for kids.

A drawing contest where children were asked to sketch their vacation experience in Saipan was also held for three categories: 0 to 3 years old (with the assistance of the parents),4 to 7 years and 8-11 years. (LFR)
