Nurses’ Week on Nov. 19-25
The week from Nov. 19 to 25 has been declared the CNMI Nurses Week 200 to recognize the services to the people of nurses all over the islands.
Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio yesterday called on the public to mark the celebration with its theme “Nurses: Always there for You” as several activities have been lined up for the event.
“I urge all citizens to recognize the innumerable contributions and dedicated service provided by these professional members of our society,” he said in a proclamation he signed at a brief ceremony yesterday at the Governor’s Office.
The local chief executive noted the nurses’ contribution in the health care delivery system in the Commonwealth, which is highly dependent on the quality of nursing care available to patients.
He said the Nurse Practice Act of 1982 established professional standards for nurses here, who “provide invaluable service while remaining sensitive to the diverse cultures they encounter.”
The CNMI Nursing Association, Department of Public Health, Tinian Health Center, Rota Health Center, Northern Marianas College and the community contribute to the professional growth of nurses on the islands, according to the proclamation.
