Special Assistant for Women’s Affair Office Ana S. Teregeyo is pleased to announce that the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands has been invited to participate in the national search for an outstanding woman in government.

An invitation to search for an outstanding woman in government to receive the top award of $25,000 cash comes from the Center for American Women and Politics and the Good Housekeeping magazine.

The objective is to honor and recognize ten women in government whose work exemplifies the manner in which government improves families’ lives in the community. Nine other winners will receive $2,500.

A selection panel consisting of distinguished leaders will review and judge the nominations based on the following criteria:

• Innovation: Does the nominee’s program or project represent an innovative approach or solution to an issue or problem?

• Replicability: Could her achievement serve as a model? Could it be adapted for use other places?

• Impact: Does the accomplishment have measurable results? Has it had demonstrable impact?

Any woman working for the government, whether as a member of the Legislature, Board of Education or program administrator is eligible to enter this award. All completed application of nomination including a one-page or 1500 words describing the nominee’s achievement must be submitted to the Special Assistant for Women’s Affairs at JTV Commercial Building, Suite B2, As Lito, Saipan, on or before Dec. 1st.
