The Issue: Vice President Gore concedes; Bush seeks bipartisan unity as he takes over the helm.

Our View: We offer our congratulations to the two gentlemen for putting the interest of our country first.

Our heartfelt congratulations to US President-Elect George W. Bush! We equally offer the same to US Vice President Al Gore for placing country over self. Despite the rancorous postelection drama that was the most closely watched event in history, it finally came to close.

The most gratifying aspect of the controversy was that it came to an end without violence and bloodshed in the streets of Florida or anywhere else in the country. It goes to illustrate the maturity and tolerance of all Americans in keeping the interest of our country first over political interests.

The 43rd President-Elect Bush has begun putting a bipartisan team together as he prepares to work for the next four years. How fortunate we are that never had to endure instability triggered by reckless allegations of corruption as is the case in new democracies in Asia and the Pacific. It illustrates the maturity of American Democracy where the two key players demonstrate the very essence of country first over self.

Vice President Gore may head to academia but leaves his options open, while President-Elect Bush attends to major preparations for four years as the head of the world’s strongest democracy. Indeed, minorities and US Citizens in remote US territories now look forward to working with his administration in hopes of establishing greater rapport in our working relationship. At least there’s hope in the horizon in this regard.

We say Si Yuus Maase` to Vice President Gore as he begins a new life in private. Our congratulations to the 43rd Commander-In-Chief of the greatest country the world over. Congratulations!
