The CNMI Council of Parent-Teacher Association has extended a public invitation for Saipan, Rota, and Tinian residents to submit their nominations for the positions of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer in the Jan. 18 CPTA elections to be held at Pacific Gardenia at 6 p.m..

Incumbent CPTA officers are reminding the public that nominees must be a parent or legal guardian of a student from private or public schools that are actively paying membership dues to the CPTA.

The candidates are expected to give a two-minute speech on why he/she is interested in a position on the CPTA and he/she will contribute if elected. Elections will be by secret ballot.

The council is set to hold its first organizational meeting on Jan. 25.

The CPTA elections is being slated in what appears to be renewed efforts by its members to reorganize CNMI’s proactive parents and teachers, after years of a relatively dormant existence.
