December Athletes of the Month named

The Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association, during its regular meeting, named baseball player Peter Sablan and triathlete Pam Dunlap as December 2000 Athletes of the Month.

Peter plays for the Saipan Stevedore Pirates in the Summer Youth Baseball League. He batted 6 for 9 in three games, capturing the MVP Award, and struck out 9 batters in seven innings with no earned runs.

Pam completed her first Marathon at the 28th Honolulu Marathon with 22, 903 runners in the 26.2 mile event. She finished in the top 10% of all racers in 4:00.07, and was 326th for females.

Other nominees are Robert Gardiner who also completed the Honolulu Marathon 4:07.55, placing 2,254 in all males and the top 10% of everyone.

All previous Athlete of the Month and Student Athlete of the Month winners for 2000 are encouraged to attend the annual Award Banquet sponsored by Microl Corporation and the Pacific Gardenia hotel at the Pacific Gardenia Hotel beachside restaurant on January 23, 2001, at 6:30pm.
