SBDC holds training for business growth
Getting a small business off the ground can certainly be a challenging endeavor. However, with proper planning and skill development, entrepreneurs can greatly improve their chances for success.
With this goal in mind, the NMC Small Business Development Center recently partnered with the Commonwealth Development Authority to offer a four-part workshop series that provides local entrepreneurs valuable information.
“Getting A Business Off the Ground” is the first seminar in the series focused on issues an entrepreneur must face when starting a business. The topics included legal business structures, tax implications and financing options.
“Organizing For Success” is the second workshop, which was designed to teach participants how to organize their business by setting up an effective bookkeeping system.
The third workshop — Understanding Financial Statements — revealed how an accountant can use the bookkeeping system to compile financial statements known as the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement.
The final seminar in the series — Mastering the Art of Marketing — illustrated the marketing process by explaining the steps business owners should follow to succeed in marketing their product or service.
CDA and the NMC SBDC will be offering these seminars on a quarterly basis on Saipan and semi-annually on Tinian and Rota. The next set of workshops are scheduled for Tinian on Feb. 13 and 15 at the NMC Tinian campus, while Rota is scheduled for March 8 and 15.
