As a small business owner, you normally have three options when deciding on how to tackle the accounting for your business.

First, you can pass along all your bookkeeping documents to an external accountant and get your financial statements from him or her when you need them.

Second, you can staff a part-time accountant that may or may not be able to help you make appropriate decisions at critical moments during the year.

Third, you may have a basic understanding of accounting, own a computer for business purposes, but desire getting a leg up on your competitors by making informed decisions using an accounting software package.

If option three is for you, your wait is over.

On March 2, the Northern Marianas College Small Business Development Center will host a one-day interactive workshop covering the popular Quickbooks accounting software program.

The course will be presented by Stanley L. Mar, Certified Public Accountant. The workshop will be held at the NMC Computer Lab, Building W, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The workshop is $75 per person. If you would like to bring one extra person from the business, there is a charge of $25.

The best part about the one-day workshop is that each participant will be sitting at a computer terminal that has been pre-loaded with the software.

It is really hands on as the small business owner and/or accountant can actually work and learn Quickbooks together. The purpose of the workshop is to acquaint first-time users of Quickbooks with key features of the software such as billing and collecting from customers, entering and paying bills to suppliers, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting.

To register, please contact the NMC Small Business Development Center at 235-1551. Registration is limited to 15 participants with one additional participant per business. Checks can be made out to the NMC Small Business Development Center.
