Diabetes isn’t synonymous to death! Being born, is, right? Yeap, you’re born to live and die. It’s the most natural phenomenon that all must accept whether we like it or not.

We’re all going to die whether you’re healthy, unhealthy, young or old. But don’t confirm irrationality by fastforwarding your ETD in advance of your scheduled flight. St. Peter would be very unhappy given the tight room situation after the pearly gate.

An employer senses that his unhappy crew (whom he hasn’t paid for six months now) tried to offer the leader of the group a promotion. It was a way to quell a walk-out of more than 100 employees.

There’s something fishy and illogical about this scheme: 1). Why offer an empty promotion when you haven’t even paid your employee for over six months now? 2). Where would the commensurate promotion (money) come from when even the current wage can’t be met on a timely basis?

A commercial farmer was pissed at Magellan’s heirs for stealing three of his prized cattle. He couldn’t sleep the whole night pondering why would anyone deny him his hard-earned dues.

Said a visiting friend: “Ah, so you now feel the frustration of being robbed of your property, yeah? Remember the cows we stole back in the sixties?” No comment!

A fisherman was very happy out in the open sea. He sees a school of tuna (bonita) behind his boat. He was all smiles convinced he’ll score a jackpot.

At dusk, he headed back o the boat basin in Garapan. He only caught three bonitas that didn’t even pay for his fuel cost.

Well, it’s the usual attitude of discounting fish in boat in favor of those still in the open waters. He was very unhappy!

A 10-year-old grammar school kid found pennies around the house. He’d ask all the family members who owns them. Most would ignore it. So the young kid puts them under his bed whenever he finds more pennies.

At the end of the year, the kid has gathered over $300 worth of pennies. On every trip with the family to the store, he’d write down the price of school supplies, zoris, pair of shoes, pants, shirts, etc. and compares it with his savings.

His brothers and sisters found out he has saved more than $300 in pennies. Guess what? They all came and claimed it, denying the kid his savings of over a year. Reminds me of the story of the Grasshopper and the Ant, right?

Prostitution has flourished in these isles, fueled by the new loose attitude of Chamolinians about morality or weak-kneed spiritual development.

Unless we have one of three anchors, moral responsibility would suffer and its domino effects, beyond recovery.

After all, spiritual development begins at home. If it has receded with the tide of mañana, many will grow up disillusioned as to float heedlessly with the drift of bad influences.

It’s good practice to return to basic religious or spiritual development. It strengthens character building among the young ones. You start them early and everything else would fall in place down the stretch.

Strictly a personal view. John S. DelRosario Jr. is publisher of Saipan Tribune.
