Open chess tournament slated

In celebration of the Philippine Labor Day on May 1, 2001, the Philippine Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, with the cooperation of CNMI Chess Association, will hold Individual Open Chess Tournament for all interested players in the Northern Marianas.

The tournament is scheduled to start April 15, 2001 from 1pm to 5pm at the ground floor of Nauru Building. Final round is on May 6, 2001.

There are two divisions for the tournament: one is for veterans and the other is for beginners who are 12-18 years of old. Entry fee for both divisions is $15.

Veterans Division winner will have a chance to join Chess Team, which will be sent to Brunei in June. For details, call Boyet Minor at 322-1364 or Atty. Yana at 234-6529.
