The CNMI Little League All-star team received a shot in the arm yesterday from the Microl Corporation in the amount of $2,000, just a couple of days before they depart to compete in the 2004 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

Manager of the CNMI’s Little League All-stars Tony Benevente was thrilled by the support that the Micol Corporation continues to offer.

“It’s awesome. The government has helped us out also. Whatever contribution or donation given us will be very helpful. We have a long trip and long days ahead of us with a lot of training, practices, and games. I’m sure that we need all of the donations that we can get because out of the 15 days that we’ll be there, there will be a lot of expenses.”

The president of the Saipan Little League Baseball Association, Joseph Borja, was also on hand, and he expressed his gratitude for the donation as well.

“This is just one of the many great things that Mr. Douglas Brennan and the Microl Toyota family have done for this team. From the very beginning of the district tournament they provided assistance and help. If we needed more help, they gave it to us. In the Regional tournament it was the same thing, and here again. These are two of the reasons that this team has been so successful, and on behalf of Saipan Little League Baseball, the team, and the parents, I want to thank Mr. Brennan, the Toyota family, the media people, and all of the people of the CNMI for their assistance from the very beginning. I hope that we can continue this feeling of working together.”

This is another one of the activities that the players have been a part of during the build up toward their trip for the Little League World Series. All-star Cameron Ser Nicolas is ready to go, and he has a notion that the CNMI will be successful in the mainland.

“I cannot wait to go. We get to meet new kids from other countries, I have a feeling that it’s going to be fun, and that we’re going to do really well in Williamsport.”

With the help of the local community the boys will have an added advantage when they hit the field in the World Series

Vice President and General Manager of the Microl Corporation Douglas Brennan said that his company will continue to lend its support to the team.

“Microl Corporation and myself included have been involved in Saipan Little League Baseball for about 15 years, and we have sponsored a team for almost every year.”

Brennan has been a part of the local baseball organization as an umpire, a coach, a parent, and a manager, and he said what he feels is the most important reason to be involved.

“It’s great to see the kids have fun. This is the ultimate goal for every Little League player in the world, to stand on the field in Williamsport, PA. In the very beginning of the season I met with District Administrator James Ada and President Borja and told them that Microl Corporation wants to sponsor the CNMI All-stars this year.”
