The Saipan Swim Club will hold the 12th staging of its All Schools Swimming Championships this Saturday at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool in Marpi.

SSC coach Mike Stewart said the meet would begin promptly at 7:30am with warm up for participants starting at 7am.

The All Schools Swimming Championships is open to all public and private schools in the CNMI. In the past, competition was held in three divisions—elementary, junior high, and high school—for both boys and girls.

Participants in the elementary division should not be older than 12 years old, swimmers in junior high should not be older than 14 years old, while those entered for the high school division must not be past their 18th birthday.

The winning schools for each division get to bring home to their respective campuses perpetual trophies and there they will stay until the next All Schools Swimming Championships.

Last year, Whispering Palms School topped the elementary division after upsetting perennial champion Saipan International School. Whispering Palms out-pointed the As Lito-based school 156 to 115.

The ousted 12-and-under division champions, however, didn’t let their disappointment carry over in the next two divisions, as Saipan International walloped rivals Saipan Community School, Mt. Carmel High School, Calvary Christian School and Marianas Baptist Academy to win the junior high and high schools divisions.

Saipan International blew the competition out of the water in the 14-and-under division, amassing 123 points to beat second-place Saipan Community (53) and third-place Mt. Carmel (39).

The 71 points of Saipan International held up against the challenge of Marianas Baptist (52) and Calvary Christian (51) in the high school level. (Mark Rabago)
