After weeks of training and qualifying, local runners with a flair for long distances will finally have a chance to show their stuff, as the All-School Cross Country Championships get underway tomorrow at the CPA Airport field.

Boys and girls from Saipan and Tinian will be divided in 9-and-under, 11-and-under, 13-and-under, 18-and-under age groups and compete for the trophies and medals associated with winning the endurance title.

According to the Northern Mariana Islands Track and Field Federation’s developmental coach Elias Rangamar, children in the 9-and-under and 11-and-under age groups will run one mile, while those in the 13-and-under and 18-and-under will leg-out 2.1 miles.

The races will begin at 4pm, and participants are advised to get there as early as possible for warm-ups and stretching prior to the event.
