A company sued a former tenant of its apartment for allegedly failing to pay rent amounting to over $10,000.

Realty Management Services asked the court to compel Lorenzo Atalig Barcinas to pay it unpaid rent that has grown to $10,120, exclusive of interest. RMS operates the Ocean View Villa Apartments on Navy Hill.

In a civil action filed with the Superior Court, RMS attorney S. Joshua Berger said his client and Barcinas entered into a lease agreement for the lease of one apartment unit in November 2002. The agreed monthly rent was $550, Berger said.

“[Barcinas] fell seriously behind in his rent and ultimately vacated the apartment sometime in June 2004. At the time of his departure, he was in arrears to [RMS] for past rental in the amount of $10,120,” Berger stated in the complaint.

Berger said Barcinas breached the lease agreement, which resulted in the filing of the lawsuit.
