A four-year-old boy sustained moderate injuries Friday evening after being hit by a four-door sedan along the Juan Tagabuel Street in Chalan Kanoa, according to the Department of Public Safety.

DPS public information officer PO2 Eric F. David said the victim sustained a laceration on his left elbow, abrasions on the right side of his forehead and right cheek, as well as abrasions on both knees.

Medics brought the boy to the Commonwealth Health Center for further treatment.

David said that at about 4:59pm, a call was received reporting the incident, prompting Traffic Section officers to respond.

“It was learned…that the victim and his grandmother were on the shoulder of the roadway when the victim crossed the road and was struck by the oncoming vehicle,” David said.

He said that pedestrian’s error was the cause of the accident. “The pedestrian was crossing the road and failed to yield to the vehicle’s right of way.”

The vehicle, a 1995 purple Toyota Camry, sustained no damage. It was being driven by 44-year-old San Jin Chung.
