2 women face charges for large-scale theft
The Attorney General’s Office filed yesterday multiple criminal charges against two women for alleged large-scale theft that victimized at least six persons.
The AGO lodged 17 criminal charges against 37-year-old Geraldine D. Sebaklim and 16 criminal counts against 58-year-old Natividad C. Sablan.
The two women allegedly conspired to embezzle at least $16,100.
Assistant attorney general Eric O’Malley filed six counts each of theft by deception and conspiracy against the two women.
Additionally, O’Malley charged the defendants with three counts of forgery and a count of immigration fraud. He also charged Sebaklim with issuance of bad check.
The theft allegedly occurred on different occasions from October 2003 to April 2004, with the two reportedly stealing money from the following persons: Xianli Zeng, $4,500; Chunying Li, $4,500; Shuyn Cai, $3,200; Shan Luo, $1,300; Fangyang Bin, $1,300; and Yong Lai, $1,300.
The Saipan Tribune tried to interview O’Malley to clarify the fraudulent scheme the two defendants were allegedly involved in, but he could not be reached as of press time.
