Additional info on NMC recruitment fair
Additional information to go with Cassie Fejeran’s Nov. 19, 2004 article on the Recruitment Fair at the Northern Marianas College: The purposes of the five-hour Phi Theta Kappa Academic Honor Society recruiting fair at NMC were several. First, PTK members chose as their fall community service an all-day workshop, which would benefit not just the PTK organization but would reach out to others as well. Second, they decided to do a “student to student” outreach to Saipan high school student leaders and scholars to inform them of the degrees, programs and services available at NMC. During the busy and exciting five-hour fair, the 50 participants from Marianas High School, Kagman High School, Marianas Baptist Academy and Northern Marianas Academy learned about the benefits of attending NMC for two years and then transferring to pursue their dream degree. Also they toured the campus and talked with PTK members about their experiences at NMC and the advantages of membership in PTK. Mixed in with information about admission, scholarships, careers, and placement testing were fun activities including ice breaker games and raffles of prizes donated by a variety of sponsors: NMC dean Kurt Barnes, recruitment coordinator Kohne Ramon, the NMC Bookstore, PTK members and Pacific Islands Club which donated pool passes and complimentary dinner passes.
