The U.S. District Court sentenced a man caught peddling shabu last year to a 12-month and one-day jail term, with credit for the time he has all already served in prison.

Dionicio A. Lizama was convicted of conspiracy to distribute shabu. known in layman’s terms as ‘ice,” on June 25, 2004.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court chief judge Alex Munson last Jan. 13. The court also stated a recommendation for the defendant to participate in substance abuse and vocational programs as approved by the U.S. Bureau of Prison as well as pay a $2,000 fine.

Lizama was also remanded to the jurisdiction of U.S. Marshals, which will transfer him to prison.

After serving his jail term, Lizama will be required to undergo a four-year supervised release, on special condition that he would undergo drug testing within 15 days of his release and another couple of drug tests in the future. (Marconi Calindas)
