Legislature to hold joint session for Tagabuel
The Senate and the House of Representatives will hold a joint session tomorrow in honor of Legislative Bureau deputy director Plasido Tagabuel who passed away last week.
During the session at 1pm, lawmakers will present a resolution to Tagabuel’s family.
House Speaker Benigno R. Fitial will deliver a eulogy during the gathering.
Tagabuel, 52, died last Wednesday, reportedly from various health complications.
Tagabuel ran and won a House seat in the 1st CNMI Legislature and served as House minority leader during the 2nd Legislature. He was also vice speaker councilman during the 25th Saipan Municipal Council. In recent years, he was overall chairman of the NMI Covenant Party.
Tagabuel had also served as member of various boards such as the Commonwealth Development Authority, NMI Retirement Fund, and Board of Election.
Other positions he held included special adviser and community relations representative for Commonwealth Utilities Corp. under then CUC executive director Timothy Villagomez, legislative assistant and special investigator for the House Committee on Public Utilities Transportation and Communications then chaired by Rep. Heinz Hofschneider.
Before, he was the governor’s deputy special assistant for Carolinian Affairs Office, budget fiscal officer for then Saipan Mayor Gilbert Ada, chief socio-economic planner under Jim Ripple at the Governor’s Planning and Budget Office, as well as special assistant for administration at the Governor’s Office under the supervision of Ramon Guerrero.
In his early days, he worked as administrative specialist for Gilbert Ada at the Office of the District Administrator, Marianas District; as accountant I under Isidro A. Sablan at the Department of Finance, TT Government; and as a management intern at the University of Guam.
Tagabuel’s funeral is set tomorrow at 3pm.
