Lost Boyz fall to Chuukanos
The previously undefeated Lost Boyz continued their fall from grace on Tuesday night when they dropped their second straight game in the Island Wide Volleyball League to the Chuukanos before a raucous crowd at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
While they still hold the overall lead in first place at 10-2, the Lost Boyz have been playing like a lost team that can’t find any breaks. After jumping out to take the first set 25-20, the regular-season frontrunners dropped the second set in a 26-24 nailbiter, and were on the losing end of the 15-11 deciding third set score.
“Every time I hit the ball they were able to block it, and we lost out on some key points on some digs,” said Lost Boyz big gun Kitinan Intharaluk
The Chuukanos have been playing solid team ball as of late, and that can be an indication that their scouting sessions at the Oleai facility and all of their practices sessions on the back side of Capitol Hill have been paying off.
With the win, the Chuukanos moved into a fifth-place tie with the NMC Proa at 4-4, but they will need to get more consistency from their crew if they plan to make a run on Shag (5-5) for the fourth and final playoff spot.
The same Shag team didn’t help their postseason cause Tuesday night, as they dropped their contest via a two-set sweep to No Fear. The Rocball crossovers continued their up-and-down season by taking a combined 50-31 shellacking against their fearless opponents, as Gabriel White and company continued their upward surge.
At 8-2, No Fear is all but assured of a playoff spot, but with the back-to-back losses by the Lost Boyz, they now have a bona fide shot at the pennant.
All of the bumps sets and spikes of the men’s league continue tonight at the Oleai Sports Complex, while the women wait patiently for their playoffs to begin in concert with the men this April.
