Tinian Elementary School students from all grade levels participated in honoring their parents, showering them with gifts these past few days.

The event, part of Parent Leadership Month a Parent Take-over Day, began on Valentine’s Day. The program saw parents take their turns coming into their children’s classes and “take-over” for the day.

The students then surprised the parents with gifts that they made themselves, as part of their class projects that started since January. Each class then took their turns singing Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me” to the appreciative but stunned parents.

“A unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and a very rewarding and enriching experience for all involved,” said one of the organizers of the event.

Organizers expressed special thanks to all the parents for taking the time to share the past few days with their children. (Joey C. Charfauros)
