Police urged witnesses who want to shed light on the fatal vehicular accident in San Jose to come forward while investigation continues.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric David said witnesses should not be afraid to speak out on what they saw, in connection with the accident that occurred at the Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Sunday night.

The accident resulted in the death of a Chinese man, who was riding a bicycle when he was hit by an eastbound sedan. Initial investigation disclosed that the victim was crossing the highway southbound when the collision occurred. Thus, it appeared that there was error on the part of the victim, who should have yielded to traffic flow along the highway.

A witness to the incident, who works near the vicinity of the accident, told the Saipan Tribune earlier this week that, contrary to the initial police investigation, the collision occurred at the outer eastbound lane—not on the inner lane.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the sedan hit the biker at the road’s shoulder.

David said yesterday that investigation continues and probers are still studying the possibility of pressing charges against the sedan operator, Yonnie M. Dejillas, a 21-year-old man.

Meanwhile, DPS commissioner Santiago Tudela said that police would conduct more vehicular speed detection on Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, a site of many other vehicular accidents.
