Police arrested two men for allegedly beating up and seriously injuring another and stealing a vehicle.

The victim, 20-year-old Marvin Mendiola, was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center’s intensive care unit, acting Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric David said.

David disclosed Monday night the arrests of Gerald Cabrera Sablan, a 28-year-old Papago resident, and James Cabrera Ordillano, a 24-year-old resident of Kannat Tabla.

Police made the arrests following the issuance of a warrant by Superior Court Associate Judge David Wiseman.

David said Sablan and Ordillano were tagged as suspects in the mauling of Mendiola at the As Gonno airfield area Friday night.

Citing results of preliminary investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau, David said Mendiola was with a friend, Chris Tenorio, when the latter left him at about 10:30pm. The two suspects allegedly arrived minutes later.

Sablan and Ordillano allegedly approached Mendiola and beat the victim up. Police said the victim sustained major laceration in the head and multiple bruises and scratches all over his body.

The two suspects allegedly stole the victim’s vehicle with license plate ABU-077 after the mauling.

Police are readying charges of aggravated assault and theft of vehicle against Sablan and Ordillano.
