Da Terminators took the early lead in the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League by nearly completing a shutout against Bud’s Killaz in Tuesday night’s start of the team pool competition organized by the Saipan Billiards Association.

The team proved to be unwelcome guests at Bud’s Bar as they walloped the home team, 5-1, after sweeping the singles and winning one of two doubles matches.

Jojo Talibong prevailed against Jackie Sasaki, Luis Fajardo defeated Vidal Camacho, Frank Pangelinan beat Henry Sasaki, and R.J. Mascarinas Jr. turned back Peter Pereda in the singles. The first doubles match had Fajardo teaming up with Pangelinan to quash Camacho and Jackie Sasaki, while the second saw Henry Sasaki and Pereda provide the only bright sport for the night for Bud’s Killaz as they upset Fajardo and Senen Pangilinan.

Two teams are tied after Week 1 of the competition, as Round Two Hustlers and USSP Fotten Gaga sport identical 4-2 records.

Round Two defended their home by evicting Jewel Night Shooter. Rowell Mariano, Joey Lucido, and Ike Celis and the pair of Rowell Mariano and Nolan Cultura won their singles and doubles games. Both of Jewel Night Shooters’ wins came courtesy of Melchor Valiente. Valiente first upended Cultura in singles and then teamed up with Serge Tibudan to beat Jerry Soriano and Celis in the doubles.

Fotten Gaga duplicated Round Two’s home win when they took care of business against VFW What Doing. Leading the way for Fotten Gaga were singles players Gary Chisato, Bern Ikeda, and Chris Clarson, and the doubles team of Ronald Chisato and Ace Elameto. Diamond Aldan and the pair of Ray Tenorio and Tony Arriola scored VFW What Doin’s two wins.

Fotten Palau and VFW Leaders head-to-head match at VFW Post 3457 is still incomplete, but the former already has an unassailable 4-1 lead with only the second doubles contest left to be played.

Fotten Palau’s four wins were attributed to singles players Gary Orpiano, Mei Rengiil, R.E. Rengiil, and John Mongami, while VFW’s lone win came in the doubles.

Jewel Night Shooters (2-4), VFW What Doin (2-4), VFW Leaders (1-4), and Bud’s Killaz (1-5) complete the standings for the first week of the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League.

Pacific Amusement, the same company that runs the leagues of the Saipan Electronic Darts Association, is organizing the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League.
