LPG’s commercial rates will breach $4 per gallon
Liquefied petroleum gas wholesaler Wushin Corp. disclosed yesterday that it would increase not only residential but also commercial rates of its products by 25 cents per gallon effective Friday next week.
The new round of price increase would peg commercial rates by as much as $4.15 per gallon, the first time gallon prices would breach the $4-mark this year.
The imminent commercial rate increase follows a similar move undertaken by the company last Nov. 3, when Wushin began implementing a 15-cent gallon price increase.
November’s price adjustment pegged the range of LPG’s commercial gallon rates from $3.40 to $3.90, according to Wushin general manager Enoch Sungsoo Lim.
When the new round of price adjustment takes effect by Dec. 2, the commercial rates would range from $3.65 to $4.15 per gallon, added Lim. Wushin’s commercial and wholesale rates on Saipan vary depending on the volume of orders.
Last Thursday, Wushin’s retailing arm, DL Corp. disclosed price increases of up to $5 per cylinder for residential LPG rates. The price adjustment would also take effect next Friday, according to Lim.
Beginning Nov. 3, the residential price of LPG in 90-lb. cylinders increased by $3 for a new price of $79 each. The prices of LPG in 50-lb. and 20-lb. cylinders rose by $2 and $1, respectively; those LPGs sell at $46 and $21.
By Dec. 2, LPG in 90-lb. cylinders will sell at $84 each. LPG in 50-lb. and 20-lb. cylinders will increase by $3 and $1 for higher residential rates of $49 and $22, respectively.
Wushin has been implementing price increases due to similar moves being undertaken by its Guam-based supplier, South Pacific Petroleum Corp.
