One of the performers of the Liaocheng Acrobatics Troupe of China has opted to extend his stay on Saipan and will be here for the holidays.

Liu Yongjun, the man behind the “Change of Face” magic routine during the acrobatics show, has chosen to remain on the island for a series of interactive shows at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

Liu, through the mediation of Fiesta Resort & Spa’s sales manager Cynthia Weng, said he and his wife are on island to bring more cheer to the community this holiday season.

The “Change of Face” master has been performing in acrobatics and magic shows for the past 40 years. He is originally from Beijing, China. He is also a member of China’s premier magicians and also an active member of the United States Magic Association.

Throughout his career, Liu has reaped several awards not only in China but also in other parts of the world. “I am very excited and satisfied that I would be staying,” Liu said, adding that his stay could give him further chance to entertain the CNMI community through his craft.

Liu, 53, came from four generations of magicians. His only child, now 20 years old, also performs the “Change of Face” routine. He said his son is also providing the same entertainment to the community of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

Saipan community members could meet the “Change of Face” master during the Sunday brunch at the new Mai restaurant at Fiesta Resort & Spa.

Liu also thanked the community for the warm appreciation his troupe received during their recently held three-night acrobatics show at the Marianas High School. He said due to the reception of the CNMI to the Chinese acrobats, he is planning to bring the group back for an earlier show next year.

He said the group loved Saipan and would consider spending more time to relax and rest the next time they visit.
