‘Heavenly’ musical play wows crowd at GCA
Friday was indeed the night when heaven came down and spread happiness all over the Grace Christian Academy Auditorium when more than 100 students “descended” to the stage for a one-night musical play in time for the holiday season.
Students from grades 1 to 5, together with high school drama students, staged “Angel Alert! The Night that Heaven Came Down,” a play created by Celeste Clydesdale and arranged by David T. Clydesdale.
Rev. Ferdinand Guinto opened the event with a prayer while GCA principal Faith Dela Rosa welcomed hundreds of parents during the show.
The kindergarten department also pitched in by being the front act before the show proper. Rev. Raymond Kinsella closed the curtain by thanking the students for their remarkable efforts of putting the show together in a short span of time.
Dela Rosa said she was impressed with the output of her students. She said all these would not have been possible without the guidance of the Almighty, to Whom they offered the entire program.
Show director Ian C. Dionson said in his five-year experience of putting up shows, he has never been so impressed with the cooperation and enthusiasm of the GCA students, considering that they barely had five weeks to practice the two-hour show.
“Awesome! I never thought we could pull a great show from a five-week rehearsal. We thank the parents for being very supportive of their children,” Dionson said.
The show was GCA’s early Christmas treat both for parents and students, as well as for the school faculty and staff, said Dela Rosa.
