‘Local parishes need the community’s help’
Local parishes need the community’s help, according to Century Insurance Co., Ltd. president David Sablan.
Sablan said this during the company’s brief donation ceremony at the CIC office along Beach Road in Garapan Friday afternoon to Kristo Rai Parish priest Father Ryan Jimenez.
Sablan, together with CIC general manager Nel L. Matanguihan handed over a check worth $500 to Father Ryan to help with the church’s renovation project.
The CIC president said most of the time parishes in the CNMI are neglected. He said the churches on the island also need assistance from the community.
He said with the company’s “humble” donation, it is hoped that it would be able to help mitigate the renovation and operations costs of the church.
“The church needs the money,” Father Ryan said, adding that his parish is currently in need of rectory renovation that would bring more convenience to those who are serving the Lord.
He said the donation of the company is in time for the upcoming fundraising activity of the parish to be held next week on his actual birthday.
Father Ryan, who has been on the island for eight years and was ordained as priest two years ago, said he is very grateful for the wonderful gesture and said it was an early holiday gift from the insurance company.
He said he is also calling the assistance of other community members to help not only his parish, but also other parishes that might need help. (Marconi Calindas)
