Santos repeats Marpi feat
(Last of two parts)
The was no stopping Franklin Santos at the Cowtown Raceway Park during the Marianas Racing Association’s second point race of 2006 season, as he pushed his little bike to the limit in
Marpi on to bag another a pair of first place finishes.
Santos earned 50 points by taking both heats of the 60-65cc class to continue his march on the title by once again leaving youngster Jared Sablan and Mariano Camacho Jr. in the dust.
Sablan earned 44 points for the runner-up while Camacho, Jr. took home 40 points for a pair of third place finishes. The trio put smiles on the spectators’ faces as their rounded the circuit on their mini-machines just as rough and tough as the big boys.
The threesome wasn’t the only pack of pint-sized pedal pushers as Patty Cepeda and Kijay Ada powered out the table tops and the whoops in the Peewee 50 Class. Cepeda ruled the rough rocky road with a pair of checkered flags in as many heats to tie for the early season lead with 50 points, while Ada scored back-to-back runner-ups for second place with 44 points.
From two wheels to the quads, Britney Camacho picked up another 50 points as she bested rookie Shiara Sablan in the mini-ATV Class, while Edinna Cepeda rode her Modified 80 to victory with another 50 points for her efforts.
While the little guys and girls were proving their mettle on the dirt, riders like Manny Flores led the wild riders of the Fast and Furious Class with a pair of first place finishes.
While the hard charging Flores came away with 50 points and first place overall, he had his hands full with Henry Camacho, who managed 44 points on the day with a pair of also-rans in the Expert Class, while D.J. Camacho packed away 40 points with two third place finishes.
Aaron Pangelinan earned 50 points with a pair of checkered flags in front of Chris-Chris Alepuyo in the Novice division.
