All Star Sporting Goods donated a state-of-the-art treadmill to the Aging Center yesterday morning.

All Star’s general manager Shirley T. Sablan said the company is donating the workout equipment, which costs $1,049, in line with the firm’s theme for the year, which is to promote fitness and health in the community.

The equipment is a Pro-Form Treadmill that is operated with a magnetic key. Sablan said the equipment is so high-tech that it has a wider control panel and a fan for health enthusiasts among the man’amko. She said the equipment could carry a person with a weight of up to 250 lbs.

Sablan said her company made donation because she believes that the man’amko could be the best role model for the youth when it comes to being physically fit. “The youth looks up to our man’amko,” she added.

Aging Center’s Joe Palacios received the donation, saying it would make a great addition to the office’s two-year old treadmill. Palacios said his clients and the office have always been grateful to the Joeten Group of Companies, which continues to support the CNMI’s elderly.

Besides the treadmill, Sablan said that All Star is also giving the center an exercise bench worth $500. This, however, still needs to be configured properly before she hands it over to the center.

Man’amko Council chair Sinchy Kapwich thanked Sablan for the donation, saying it gives them another reason to be more health conscious and to exercise everyday for a longer life.

All Star Sporting Goods supervisor Marlor Pagsisihan helped at least three of the man’amko yesterday during a brief test run of the equipment. Sablan said her company is set to donate some sporting equipment soon to the Division of Youth Services.
