Taga Inc. calls for volunteers
With only about three weeks until some of the most extreme athletes come to compete in one of the most difficult races on the planet, the local support staff for the 2006 XTERRA Saipan Championship is teaming up with the organizers of the 17th Tagaman Triathlon to host the second Saipan Sportsfest.
According to vice president Wolf Mojica of Taga Inc., all of the planning for the week of activities met with bookend triathlons will be in vain without an outpouring of support from the public.
In past years, athletes and athletic supporters alike have come out in droves to lend a hand and Mojica said that he needs the help of anyone interested in catching a glimpse of the world of multisport as all of the past champions for the XTERRA Saipan Championship will be returning for what looks to be the biggest race in the five-year history of the event.
All volunteers interested in donating their time for the XTERRA Saipan Championship are required to meet at the American Memorial Park on Friday, March 31, at 5pm.
Once there, Mojica and his and his staff will assign position for the April Fool’s Day race on the following day. While showing up the night before the race is imperative, Mojica said that he will be compiling a list of all volunteers who email him first.
In addition to rounding up volunteers for the XTERRA Saipan Championship, Mojica said that he also requires assistance the following week for the Tagaman Triathlon on Saturday, April 8, and the Tagakids on Sunday, April 9.
In order to lend a hand for any of the races, contact Mojica via email at wolf@saipan.com as soon as possible so organizers can get a hold on the number of race day volunteers that will be available. (Brad E. Ruszala)
