“The third quarter has been very productive at the Garapan Elementary School: Our Academic Bee Challenge Team placed 2nd islandwide. Simon Necesito, a 6th grader, garnered 4th place in Guam at the 2006 Scripps Howard Spelling Bee. We raised over $2,300 for the Red Cross. Our Boys and Girls Soccer Teams are playing hard. Our Chamorro and Carolinian Forensic Teams are competing well, and we are all reading like crazy to reach our 1,250,000-page goal before the end of March. Your partnership and encouragement have been invaluable this year and we certainly look forward to what the next months have in store for us.

“The induction of our GES National Junior Honor Society was a success last Wednesday. We thank all of our legislators, PSS leadership, advisers, teachers and parents who showed up to celebrate with the students. We look forward to seeing them and you at the next PTA meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 30 at 6pm in our cafeteria. We hope that we can begin some healthy dialogue on the needs of GES, especially with regards to the plans to relocate our school.

“We will be re-scheduling Parent Teacher Conferences for the same evening, March 30, 2006 from 3pm to 5pm, so that you may pick up your child’s report card and have an opportunity to join us at the PTA meeting. This will be the last report card conference before the school year ends, so it is crucial that you meet with your child’s teacher. We look forward to your presence and hope that you can make these two events. If you should have any questions or need clarification, you are more than welcome to contact me by phone at 237-3341 or email me at gomezy@pss.cnmi.mp,” said GES principal Yvonne R. Gomez.
