Justin Alexander did it all for the Hustlers as the standout two-way player pitched a gem and hit like a champ to lead his squad to a 24-1 win over the Comets in continuation of the Saipan Little League Baseball Association’s power-packed Junior League.

The fans at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field were witness to Alexander’s special day as the hurler allowed one run off of two hits and fanned seven through five innings from the hill while turning around to hit 3-for-4 with a pair of singles, a double, and a run batted in at the plate.

The only thing that overshadowed Alexander’s greatness at the Oleai Sports Complex on Sunday was the fact that he and his teammates cranked out 17 runs off of 11 hits in the bottom of the second inning to send the Comets into orbit.

At least Alexander didn’t have to do all of the work himself as his catcher Nokki Lizama smacked a pair of singles, a double, and an inside the park homerun to go 4-for-5 with three ribbies on the day.

Shortstopper Phillip Manalo also hit an inside-the-parker and drove in three runs to go 2-for-2 at the plate while first baseman J.P. Lizama went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and an RBI.

After leading 2-1 heading into the bottom of the second the Hustlers went Anatahan when they erupted for 17 runs to put the game as far out of reach as the snooze alarm on a Sunday morning.

SENIOR LEAGUE

OL’ ACES 15, FIELDERS 4

Pitcher Nunu Kapileo and catcher Bill Fleming went perfect at the plate for the Ol’ Aces and the combo served up a one-two punch on the other side of the plate to flatten the Fielders, 15-4, on Sunday at Tan Ko field.

Kapileo gave up four runs off of four hits and fanned eight, while Fleming caught every pitch and the duo combined to go 7-for-7 with the swat sticks to lead the Aces to victory. Kapileo went 3-for-3 with a string of singles and a pair of runs batted in, while Fleming launched a pair of singles and triples off his bat and drove in three runs.

Teammate Isaiah Wabol didn’t post the same numbers but the third baseman cranked out a two-run inside-the-park homerun in the top of the fifth inning to help the Ol’ Aces seal the deal.

MAJOR LEAGUE

PATRIOTS 11, MATRIX 7

The Patriots almost let the underdog Matrix pull a fast one on Sunday morning but Thelma Mizer’s squad answered the call and rallied to pull off an 11-7 win at Tan Ge Field.

Following a six-run outburst early in the game, the Green and Yellow fellows took a 7-2 lead in the top of the third before the Patriots answered with a six-run rally of their own in the bottom of the fourth to seize control of the game for good.

Catcher Tony Salas went 3-for-4 with three singles and a run batted in and centerfielder Jonakin Leon Guerrero smacked a single and stole three bases, while second baseman James Sablan went 1-for-1 with a single and drew three walks.

KAGMAN 1-2-3 10, RED SOX 1

The little Lancheros took their time before ripping the Red Sox as Kagman 1-2-3 got three homeruns and scored six times in an action packed fourth inning that put the bean town boys to bed for good.

Leroy Regis earned a complete game win on the hill after surrendering one run off of seven hits and fanning four, but the pitcher also smacked a single and a two run homer on the other side of the plate to aid his cause.

First baseman Richard Dela Cruz helped the homesteaders by hitting 2-for-3 with four ribbies after cranking out an RBI single and a three run-homer while Mark Jo Wabol went 2-for-2 with a pair of solo homeruns.

BRAVES 5, TWINS 3

After trailing 4-1 through four and a half, the Tanapag Braves rallied with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to topple the Twins in the final game of the afternoon at Tan Ge Field.

Jotham Camacho went five innings on the hill for the Braves allowing three runs off of five hits and fanning eight before Charito Kladikm cleaned up with a shutout sixth and fanned two.

All-around player Rickey Riungel fueled the offensive fire with a pair of singles and an RBI while catcher Peter “Jeter” Lieto smacked a double and crossed the plate for the red and white.
