Beach ball on tap at PIC this spring
The indoor volleyball players of the CNMI got their fill of fun over the weekend with the return of the Jam Attack, and now it’s time for the open-air brand of bumps, set, and spikers to don the shorts and hit the sand court behind the Pacific Islands Club to take part in the 7th Annual Spring Co-ed Four’s Beach Volleyball League.
Before the first serve crosses the net, teams will be formed this Thursday, April 27, as all players will be entered into a draft during the pre-season banquet at the PIC at 6pm. All players interested must be present or have signed up and paid prior to the event.
The four games consisting of three sets up to 11-points apiece will be played each night on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 5:30pm and 10pm. Each seven member team will field four players at a time, with one bumper, setter, or spiker being a female.
According to PIC Sports, Entertainment, and Activities director Jon Cramer, the length of the season will depend on the number of teams entered into the league this Thursday, but he said that it he expects it will last roughly eight weeks.
The cost to participate in the season is $25 per person, and only $20 for members of the Northern Marianas Islands Volleyball Association. Participants also receive the added benefits of $10 PIC Waterpark passes throughout the season, a league T-shirt, and a discount on Pacific Trading Co. products at PIC anytime while the league is in progress.
Though the details are yet to be released, players can come to the PIC on designated evenings for practice.
