30 charges files against govt credit union worker

The Attorney General’s Office filed 30 charges yesterday against a staff of the Commonwealth Government Employee Credit Union who allegedly stole money by forging several checks belonging to the union’s customers.

Eloise Jones Castro, 21, was charged with 15 counts of forgery and 15 counts of theft.

Chief Prosecutor Jeffery Warfield Sr. said the defendant defrauded CGE Credit Union and customers Bonifacio Castro, Heather Castro, Dolores Castro, Calistro Cabrera, Angelica Iba, and Police Officer Jason Tarkong.

Warfield said the defendant stole the customers’ checks by forging their signatures on the withdrawal form from CGE Credit Union then cashed the checks.

Court documents alleged that Bonifacio Castro was defrauded $450; Heather Castro, $500; Dolores Castro, $4,050; Calistro Cabrera, $4,000; Iba, $1,250; and Jason Tarkong, $500.

Warfield said the defendant forged and stole the checks on Jan. 13 and 24, Feb. 3, 9, 13,17, and 22; and on March 1, 2, 6, 7, 10, and 13, all this year.

Eloise Castro was arrested last Wednesday.
