DFS Cup soccer championships this Saturday
Eight teams representing seven schools will vie for the 2006 DFS Cup Elementary School Soccer title this Saturday at Garapan Elementary School.
In the boys’ division, Garapan Elementary, Dan Dan Elementary, Gregorio T. Camacho, and Grace Christian Academy will lock horns for the title.
Dan Dan was the winner of Group A with Grace Christian finishing second. Other teams in the group were Kagman Elementary, Tanapag Elementary, and San Vicente.
Garapan won Group B with GTC right on their heels in second. Other teams in Group B were William S. Reyes, Whispering Palms, Koblerville, and San Antonio Elementary Schools.
In the girls’ division, Garapan Elementary, Tanapag Elementary, Koblerville Elementary, and Kagman Elementary School will challenge for the cup. Garapan won Group A with Koblerville right behind them in second.
Other teams in Group A were Grace Christian Academy, San Antonio Elementary, and GTC Elementary. Tanapag won Group B and Kagman was the runner up. Other teams in the group were WSR, San Vicente, and Dan Dan Elementary Schools.
This year was the largest PSS-All School’s Soccer Tournament to date based on the number of schools participating.
Because of the number of teams, preliminary games were held at both American Memorial Park and Garapan Elementary School.
First round match-ups for the boys on Saturday will pit Garapan against Grace Christian and Dan Dan against GTC. Garapan scored a total of five goals during the five preliminary matches, while GCA scored six goals in their preliminary games. Dan Dan scored five goals in their four games, and GTC scored three goals in their five games. The winners of these two games will face off for the championship at 12:30pm.
First round matches for the girls will see Garapan challenging Kagman and Tanapag facing Koblerville. Garapan scored three goals in their four preliminary games, while Kagman scored three goals in their three preliminary games. Tanapag netted one goal in their three preliminary matches and Koblerville scored three times in four games. The winners of these two games will meet in the championship at 11:30am. (PR)
