The pressure is now on for both teams as defending champion Mwaliyas stayed alive and forced a winner-take-all Game 5 by winning Game 4 of their 2006 World Organized Rocball High School League championship series yesterday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

Down 2-1 in the series that was mostly dominated by No. 2-ranked Ochobu, Mwaliyas finally showed solid form as they controlled the match en route to a 67-43 victory.

As reported earlier, Mwaliyas took a 10-point lead after two sets of play on Wednesday.

The two teams resumed play with the third set, which Mwaliyas won as Pedro Iguel and Shane Yamada taking charge. With the two dynamic players crushing the ball with all their might, Mwaliyas was able to increase their lead in the overall point tally by taking the set, 15-9.

With the win, Mwaliyas headed into the final set of regulation with a 16-point edge, 49-33.

Ochobu, however, still had a shot, as all they needed to do was win the fourth set to force o-kon. Even if Ochobu trails after the fourth set, if they win, o-kon will be needed as Rocball rules require the team leading to win the fourth set in order to close out the bout.

Mwaliyas was not thinking o-kon though and despite getting stronger resistance from Ochobu, still got over the hill as Iguel and Yamada again came up with big shots that propelled the team to an 18-10 victory.

Iguel finished as a game’s heavy hitter with 25 points after crushing three goals, three aces, a xunk, and four kees. Yamada also had a strong outing as he finished with 14 points on two goals, three kees, and an xunk.

Ichnis Kapwich and Ramsey Sino led Ochobu with six points apiece. Kapwich had three kees while Sino had two goals.

Game 5 begins on Monday at 11:30am.
