Five earn Young Womanhood Recognition Award

Five young women from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints recently earned the Young Womanhood Recognition Award, the highest honor given to young women ages 12 to 18 in the church, on Nov. 12 at the LDS Church building located in Chalan Laulau.

The young women are Jennifer Villegas, daughter of D. Rik and Janel Villegas, is 17 and a student at NMC.

Erwina Zachrais, daughter of Alen and Emlok Zachrais is 17 and a student at Marianas High School.

Taylor Smith, daughter of F. Matthew and Christina Smith, is 16 and a student at Northern Marianas Academy.

Vanessa Carulla, daughter of Liza and the late Manuel Carulla, is 16 and a student at MHS.

Caroline Lochabay, daughter of David and Latisha Lochabay, is 16 and a student at Saipan International School.

All five of these young women completed various requirements, including setting and achieving 42 or more goals and seven or more 10 hour projects, all focusing on seven values, which are faith divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, and integrity. Additionally, all five girls have been involved in community activities and service.

The LDS young women’s program is an organization that helps young women discover and develop talents, gain spiritual and temporal knowledge, prepare themselves for young adulthood, and offers the young women an opportunity to participate in meaningful activities. [B][I](PR)[/I][/B]
