The 9th Annual Pacific Islands Club-Miller Lite Spring Co-ed 4-Person Beach Volleyball League opens its season today at the PIC beach side.

Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association president Laurie Peterka is inviting everyone to join them for the opening banquet.

The opening banquet begins at 6pm and players need to be at PIC at 7pm to be included in the four-man roster for each team. The league follows a random draw format.

Peterka said players don’t need to organize their own teams since they will do the random drawing for the members of each squad where they would divide all players evenly.

Previous experience in playing beach volleyball is also not necessary. “Just come out, learn, share, and dig in for another great season,” said Peterka.

Registration fee is $20 for NMIVA while non-members will be charged $25. Games will be played twice a week, every Tuesdays and Thursdays. The league is expected to end by the first week of June.

Teams must have four players inside the court during each game with one female member.

Last year, top seed Limarh completed its amazing one-loss season when they scored a 15-7 win over the Sand Smackers to win the title. They finished with a 10-1 card tallying 346 points while limiting their opponents to 225 and winning 27 sets in the three-month long tournament.
