Points at stake in CNMI junior tennis

CNMI junior ranking points will be at stake in the 2008 Spectrum Electric Inc.-Marianas Medical Center CNMI Junior Tennis Championships, which opens on April 18 at the American Memorial Park courts.

The two three-day long tournament will give away 1 1/2 times the points for participants who want to earn CNMI Junior rankings in time for the International Tennis Federation-North Pacific Qualifying event on Guam in June.

The 2008 Spectrum Electric Inc.-Marianas Medical Center CNMI Junior Tennis Championships is the third event organized by the Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association after the Coconut Classic Tennis in February and the Pacific Islands Club-Gatorade Tennis Tournament held in the last weekend of March and last week.

The first three days of the tournament will be played from April 18 to 20, while the final leg will be from April 25 to 27.

The deadline for submission of entries is on Monday, April 14, 6pm and the registration fee is $7.50 per person and per event. All checks should be made payable to NMITA.

Lila Mailman will serve as the tournament director, while NMITA vice president and CNMI national coach Jeff Race is the chief referee with the AMP courts as the headquarters for the games.

Events to be played are boys’ and girls’ Under-9 -13, and -18 singles and the boys’ and girls’ Under-12 and -16 doubles.
