LISS students take part in camp
The Ladera International School of Saipan saw an encouraging number of students that took part in a nine-day spring camp program on March 22-31.
The program focused on the ESL language and provided science experimentations as the subject of choice since LISS is in partnership with Missouri Academy to boost the school’s performance in science and mathematics.
During the duration of the spring program, students from Japan, Korea and local children engaged in various learning activities as well as outdoor experiences under the new concept of “Edu-Tourism.”
“A total of 35 students made the program a success and now LISS is programming its summer sessions that will cater to all markets,” LISS director Wayne Pangelinan said.
Targeting the markets of Japan, Korea, China and Russia are in the works. LISS also provides opportunities for local businesses to get their hands on the student population business LISS brings to the CNMI.
“Our efforts are made possible through collaborative partnership between the government and other private partners in the education and tourism field,” Pangelinan said.
“We are fortunate that the support received from all parties has been exceptional and that we are moved to continue to make this new ‘Edu-Tourism’ concept work for the CNMI,” he said.
