Rock Steady stays solid in BSML

Byrone Kaipat and Tony Palacios maintained Rock Steady’s solid hitting and pitching, leading their team to a 5-0 record in the 3rd Annual Budweiser-Saipan Major League.

Kaipat is batting .647 going 11-for-17 to lead four of his teammates that barged into the Top 10 batting leaders. The D9ers’ Greg Camacho came in second with .500.

Four of Kaipat’s teammates placed from third to sixth with Manny Sablan and Tony Celis ending up tied with .450 while Tyrone Omar and Dane Lizama batted .437 and .435.

The Korean Dreams’ Justin Reyes and John Tenorio and Tony Camacho of the D9ers’, and Komoro’s Jae Young Kim all batted .400.

Kaipat also scored 10 runs joining Jesse Iguel, John Reyes, and another batter to place behind the 13 made by Greg Camacho. Omar, Lizama, and Camacho had nine runs each.

Celis led the doubles department with four followed by the three of Sablan, Reyes, and Tenorio. Jason Reyes led the triples with four, while Nick San Nicolas and Shane Mendiola had three and two apiece.

Dennis Cruz, Tim Mafnas, Tony Manibusan, Oliver Secharmidal, John Reyes, and Jae Young Kim had blasted a home run while Tenorio is pacing the RBIs category with 13 followed by Mendiola’s eight and the seven of B.J. Sablan and Nick San Nicolas. Mike Pangelinan and Kaipat had six each.

Palacios now leads the pitching department with a 0.82 ERA, giving up one earned run on six hits in the 11 innings he pitched for a 2-0 record.

Komoro’s record-breaking pitcher Kim is in second place with a 2.12 ERA. He already pitched 29.2 innings in four games giving up seven earned runs on 20 hits for a 1-2 record.

Others in the Top 10 are Mafnas (Rock Steady, 2.28); Ben Duenas (Tigers, 2.32); Mel Sakisat (Ford Rangers, 2.50); McGregory Camacho (Tanapag Falcons, 3.18); Mendiola (Dreams, 4.57); Leroy Dela Cruz (D9ers, 4.67); Joshua Muna (Falcons, 4.69); and Joab Thomas (Dreams, 5.90).

Kim also leads the league in strikeouts with 62, while Mendiola is a far second with 34. Dela Cruz and Camacho are tied with 15 each while Palacios and Tuwi Ngiraidong had 11.
