Contrasting wins for Aguaguat, Corrections
Aguaguat and Department of Corrections scored contrasting wins as action continued in the 2008 PTI Inter-Government Business Basketball League Tuesday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Aguaguat held Department of Public Works/Procurement and Supply to 13 points in all quarters en route to a 72-52 dumping, while DOC used a late fourth-quarter rally to pull off a 71-62 win against Department of Public Safety.
Aguaguat and DOC joined opening day winners and last year’s finalists Office of the Public Auditor and the Northern Marianas College-Proa. OPA won last year’s title.
Jason Lizama scored 13 points to lead Aguaguat’s spread-out offense with Patrick Sablan adding 10 markers.
J.J. Atalig, Mike Deleon Guerrero, and J.P. Sablan combined for 23 points also for Aguauguat, which led at 56-39 heading into the final period.
John Guerrero was the lone DPW player who scored in double figures with 14 points, while Dave Camacho, Dennis Norita, and Ray Takai scored nine, eight, and seven each.
In the second game, Luis Iguel scattered 22 points to lead DOC to a 71-62 victory against a six-man DPS side in a low-scoring ballgame.
Tied at 46-all after three quarters, Iguel scored eight in the fourth period to help DOC escape with the win. Jeffrey Quitugua added 19 points also for DOC.
Jerry Ayuyu paced DPS with 24 points with Joe Ito chipping in 12 more. Elias Saralu, Ned Norita, Servano Regis, and Carl Hocog scored nine, eight, six, and three apiece.
