Former 2001 Miss CNMI World Tracy Del Rosario, 24, recently graduated with magna cum laude honors from the Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Del Rosario, who attended Marianas High School on Saipan, received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education on May 12, but still wants to pursue a master’s degree.

Her mother, Rose Del Rosario, said that “Tracy promised that she would try her best in school, and not only did she do her best but she also passed with honors. Her father and I are very proud of her.”

Rose is a social worker with the Attorney General’s Office while Tracy’s father, John Del Rosario, works at the Northern Marianas College as an archivist.

Tracy’s sister, Tricia, graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Northern Marianas College, while brother John Del Rosario graduated NMC with a Criminal Justice degree.

Speaking of her experience in Honolulu, Tracy Del Rosario states that “it’s been a wonderful two and a half years of college journey out here. Life has been difficult at times, but my strong faith in God has kept me going with the support of my family. Hawaii is indeed paradise! Living independently is very challenging—you would bring out your best qualities and know your real strength and weaknesses.”

She expressed a love for children and working with them and she finds that teaching is the best way to reach out to kids.

She attributes her motivation to God, her family, and the people of Saipan and points to her parents as her role models. “My parents believe that we can conquer the world by empowering our minds through education,” she said.

When asked for words of advice for her peers, Tracy said: “Education is never too late! Continue to strive for the best and believe in yourself that you can do it! All it takes is dedication, passion, and determination! All of this is possible with the support and encouragement of your parents, families, and friends. It won’t be easy at times, but once the hard part is over, trust that you can conquer the next step ahead and higher! College life is an inexplicable experience, no one can truly explain the journey you will encounter, so go for it and you’ll succeed!’

Her future plans are to resume her position as the accreditation assistant coordinator and field services personnel at Chaminade University’s Education Division. She will be working directly with the accreditation director and Field Services Directors in the Education Division. Also, she will be starting a master’s program in July, majoring in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction.
