PIC’s Paradise In Cleats scores big over Wild Bill’s Wild Fire

The Paradise In Cleats, sporting their new team colors, capitalized on two penalty kicks to beat the Wild Bill’s Wild Fire team with a score of 2-1.
Jaime Beavis of the Wild Bill’s Wild Fire opened the match with a blazing dribble down the side of the field to score. Later in the game, the Wild Fire team was called for a handball in the box to give a penalty kick opportunity to the Paradise In Cleats team. PIC’s Brenda Schultz answered the call by scoring on a direct kick. In the second half, another penalty provided the PIC Paradise In Cleats team with another opportunity to score. PIC’s Meaghan Hassel-Shearer passed the ball to Brenda Schultz who swooped in for a quick score. Despite some heavy offensive play by the Wild Bill’s Wild Fire team, PIC’s Paradise In Cleats emerged the winner of this match.
It was a draw for the second match of the day between Marianas Eye Spectacular Blues and Matt Smith’s Smithereens. The temperature was hot and the competition even hotter as both teams turned up the heat in the second half of the game. There were numerous scoring opportunities, however, Marianas Eye goalkeeper Becky Covarrubias and Matt Smith’s goalkeeper Maria Ornes ensured that the game remained scoreless. A handball in the box gave the Marianas Eye Spectacular Blues a golden opportunity to score however, Becca Newman of the Spectacular Blues was denied by a great save from Maria Ornes of the Smithereens.
The Tuesday evening match between Matt Smith’s Smithereens and PIC’s Paradise In Cleats resulted in a draw 0-0 with neither team able to break through the other’s solid defense. Both teams had many looks at the goal and a few opportunities to score, but were unable to finish.
The games will continue this Saturday at the CPA field with the PIC Paradise In Cleats going up against the Marianas Eye Spectacular Blues team at 8:15 followed by Matt Smith’s Smithereens battle against Wild Bill’s Wild Fire at 10 am. Tuesday evenings match will feature the Marianas Eye Spectacular Blues against the Wild Bill’s Wild Fire team at 5 pm. [B][I](NMIFA)[/I][/B]
