The Division of Environmental Quality will be mobilizing its cleanup brigade to pick up trash at the Unai Dankulu Agingan Beach, better known as Coral Ocean Point.

If you would like to volunteer your time to clean and beautify the island, meet up with DEQ members this Saturday, July 12, at 8am.

DEQ’s Reina Camacho said they expect many of the garbage to be picnic debris and some household garbage. Gloves, trash bags and refreshments will be provided during the cleanup.

Volunteers will clean until 10am, break for drinks and then continue the cleanup, if needed.

This month, outstanding brigade volunteers who participated in at least 10 monthly cleanups will receive a brigade cap and those who participated in at least three cleanups will receive a green brigade t-shirt, said Camacho.

“Let us work together for the health of our coral reefs and cleanliness of our beaches for everyone to enjoy,” she added.

Volunteers removed 1.440 lbs of debris from Old Man by the Sea during the cleanup on June 7.

Since1996, DEQ’s cleanup brigade has continued to maintain clean, healthy beaches.

For more information about volunteering, contact the DEQ office at 664-8500.
