The House of Representatives is looking for a lawyer to fill up the position that will be vacated by attorney Ian Catlett this month.

At present, the House has three lawyers—Catlett, Joe Bermudes, and Antonette Villagomez.

“The position that Mr. Ian Catlett is occupying at the moment will be the one that will be vacant,” according to Floor Leader Joseph James N. Camacho on Friday.

Interested lawyers have until Aug. 15 to submit their applications to the Legislative Bureau.

“I don’t know how many people already submitted for the position,” Camacho said.

He said Catlett did not specify the reason why he is quitting.

Catlett used to work as a prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Office handling immigration matters. He quit in the latter part of 2006 and moved to the House as legal counsel.

The Senate has two legal counsels—Mike Ernest and Anthony Cabrera.
